Description
This one-day Workshop provides intensive training for Privacy Officers in private sector organisations.
The course equips participants with a detailed
understanding of:
·
privacy laws and their application to private sector organisations;
·
how to manage privacy compliance issues.
Participants will receive a Participant Handbook containing course
materials (which is also suitable for use as a privacy reference
handbook) and a Certificate of Completion.
Format
The workshop is delivered using a
PowerPoint presentation. At the end of modules, participants are divided
into groups to discuss, identify and apply relevant privacy principles in
practical scenarios.
Who is this course for?
Senior
staff responsible for privacy issues, eg. Privacy Officers, Risk Managers
and Internal Auditors.
Which
industries is the course relevant to?
The course content is relevant to all industries, drawing on case studies
and scenarios from a range of sectors, eg financial, retail and health.
Health
service providers: The Participant Handbook contains supplementary
materials for health service providers, providing further information on
privacy laws relating specifically to the health sector. These materials are
referred to throughout the Workshop.
Presenter
Jeremy
Douglas-Stewart is Principal Consultant at Privacy Law Consulting Australia.
Jeremy was a member of the Federal Privacy Commissioner's Consultative Group
during her review of the Privacy Act in 2004-05 and of the Australian Law
Reform Commission's Privacy Principles Roundtable in 2007. Jeremy is
author
of a national privacy law loose-leaf reporting service.
